Aston Villa are considering the future of Nottingham Forest’s £20 million signing.
The latest Premier League transfer gossip as Germany considers offering Jürgen Klopp the Germany job as players from Aston Villa and Nottingham Forest move.
Players in the Premier League may not be able to move, but managers most certainly can. While Liverpool have done well to keep hold of Mohamed Salah this summer, they may face another battle to stay hold of the one person at the club who may be even more vital – Jürgen Klopp.
After the German FA fired Hansi Flick from the national job earlier this week following a 4-1 defeat to Japan, speculation is rife that Klopp could be one of the DFB’s targets, and Sports Mole reports that the former Borussia Dortmund manager is one of eight names on their initial shortlist. Julian Nagelsmann, Louis van Gaal, and Matthias Sammer are also on the list, despite the latter’s absence from professional football since 2005.
Klopp has been asked several times about the potential of becoming Germany coach at some point, and he has always repeated his dedication to Liverpool – but don’t managers constantly say that?
The 3AM Verdict: If Klopp is enticed by the opportunity to manage his country and compete in the World Cup in three years, Liverpool will have some really big shoes to fill. At this stage, the German’s imprint is all over Liverpool, and the team and style of play have been tailored to his specifications. If Klopp’s devotion turns out to be conditional – say, on a wage raise – Liverpool’s owners, FSG, would be wise to chip in.
Dennis, you can’t lend me anything.
Although it has been stated that Premier League players can no longer move, this is not yet the case; Turkey, the preferred retirement destination for the discerning professional footballer who isn’t good enough for Saudi Arabia, does not close its transfer market until this Friday. They’re also interested in a specific Nottingham Forest forward.
Signing fee of £20 million According to Fabrizio Romano, Emmanuel Dennis, who has found himself on the periphery at the City Ground, is set to transfer on loan to either Istanbul Başakşehir or Adana Demirspor, with all of his salaries covered by the Super Lig teams. The player rejected a loan offer from CSKA Moscow for what I believe we can all agree were probably very excellent reasons.
The 3AM Verdict: Before the departure of Brennan Johnson, Forest looked a touch light up top, and bringing in an experienced Premier League striker with such little cover in his position seems a little risky – but the player has clearly decided that his future is elsewhere. If Taiwo Awoniyi is injured at any moment, we may reconsider our decision, but you can’t blame Dennis for wanting to play football.
Aston Villa is being bullied by Fenerbahçe.
Finally, in other Turkish football news, Fenerbahçe are looking for a defensive midfielder and have identified Aston Villa team member and former Wolves star Leander Dendoncker as a possible candidate.
Sport Witness believes he isn’t the first choice, but newspaper reports imply that if they don’t acquire their top target, they will “force” Villa to sell. It is unclear how they will push a much wealthier football team to sell, but Unai Emery must be excited to find out. Frank Onyeka of Brentford is also reportedly on the Yellow Canaries’ shortlist.
The 3AM Verdict: If the price is good, it’s difficult to argue against selling – the Belgian midfielder hasn’t played a single minute for Villa this season and isn’t even on the squad sheet. On the other hand, if the price isn’t right, he’s a seasoned and capable squad member who can stay around till summer. In other words, Villa appear to hold all of the cards when it comes to making a choice, so perhaps Fenerbahçe’s plot to compel the move is more diabolical than the large sum of money we were expecting. Let’s hope not.
