Uche Ikpeazu’s prospective transfer to Wycombe Wanderers has been updated.

Uche Ikpeazu is still’very much on Wycombe’s radar’ as he seeks a new club.Uche Ikpeazu secures Cambridge United victory over Stevenage

The 28-year-old Ugandan forward has been a free agent since June after being released by Turkish club Konyaspor after only one season.

There have been lukewarm ties to reuniting the one-time fan favorite back at Adams Park, with Queens Park Rangers, Huddersfield Town, and Sheffield Wednesday all showing interest.

Uche Ikpeazu, a fan favorite, is’set for a medical’ at Wycombe Wanderers.

However, the Sheffield Star reported that the ex-Cambridge United player was set to sign for Wanderers after passing a medical at the end of August.

A personal trainer who works with Ikpeazu also hinted on social media about a possible return to Wycombe, but no transfer occurred before the deadline.

However, it is believed that the Chairboys are still keen in bringing him back to Buckinghamshire, but that ‘no deal is imminent for him’.

Ikpeazu has had several pleasant conversations with Wanderers manager Matt Bloomfield this summer, and as a free agent, he is free to join teams other than the Wanderers.

The transfer window has closed.

John Gorman returns to Wycombe Wanderers for the encounter against Carlisle United.

John Gorman is revered as a former player with Carlisle United and as an ex-manager at Wycombe Wanderers. On Saturday, September 30, when Wycombe host Carlisle at Adams Park, Gorman is to be the day’s guest speaker in the Legends Lounge. Gorman was the manager of one of the most exciting teams in recent Wycombe history, inheriting a squad largely built by his predecessor Tony Adams – including current Blues boss Matt Bloomfield – and building an entertaining, successful side playing a glorious style of play dubbed ‘Gormania’ by the admiring fans. He spent most of his playing career with Carlisle United – 229 League appearances between 1970 and 1976 before joining Tottenham Hotspur.

He finished his career in the United States, playing over 100 games for the Tampa Bay Rowdies before embarking on a coaching career with a good friend, Glenn Hoddle.

He was the manager of Swindon Town during their Premier League season before joining Hoddle as an assistant coach with England.

He later worked with Hoddle at Tottenham before moving on to Wycombe (caretaker), Gillingham (caretaker), and returning to Wycombe for a successful time in charge during which they set a club record of 21 straight League games without defeat.

Gorman began his career as a scout at Southampton before moving on to become caretaker manager; assistant manager at Ipswich; assistant manager at QPR; and ultimately assistant manager at MK Dons, where he announced his retirement in May 2012.

He is still a personal friend of current Wycombe manager Bloomfield and many others at the club, and he is excited to share anecdotes from his career with guests in the Legends Lounge on September 30.

Both Wycombe Wanderers and Carlisle United fans can purchase Legends Lounge tickets, however no club colors are permitted to be worn.
