Arsenal urged to execute risky £70 million striker trade as Chelsea ‘blocks’ Wolves proposal
The 3AM team discusses the latest Premier League transfer rumors including Arsenal, Chelsea, and Manchester United.

Arsenal have been urged to boost their forward options by making a move for Brentford and England striker Ivan Toney.

The Bees star is currently out of action as he serves an eight-month ban for breaching the Premier League’s betting rules and won’t make a return to the on-field action until the new year. However, despite the presence of Gabriel Jesus, Eddie Nketiah and summer signing Kai Havertz in Mikel Arteta’s squad, former Premier League striker Jay Bothroyd has insisted the ‘prolific’ Toney can thrive at one of the division’s top clubs and admitted he would ‘love Arsenal to sign him’.

“He scores goals, he is prolific, he is strong, he leads the line really well,” the former Arsenal academy product stated on Sky Sports Saturday Social. If he plays for any of the big clubs, he will score at least 20 Premier League goals per season. Excellent at penalties. I’d love for Arsenal to sign him.”

The 3AM Verdict: Mikel Arteta is unlikely to heed to pundits when making transfer decisions, but Bothroyd does have a point. Toney’s quickness, movement, and, most crucially, finishing would allow him to slot into the Gunners’ lineup and provide them with something unique at the top of the pitch.

Chelsea eye move for France Under-21 star

Chelsea’s attempts to continue adding young talent from around the world to their squad has reportedly taken them to France as they look to take advantage of their link with Strasbourg.

Todd Boehly’s big spending has seen Chelsea rocket to the top of the net spend table
The Blues’ current owners took over the French club earlier this season, and ties between the two clubs are expected to strengthen in the coming months. Chelsea summer signing Angelo Gabriel is now on loan at the Ligue 1 club, but Football Insider claims that a player could be moving in the opposite direction after the Blues expressed interest in midfielder Habib Diarra.

The 19-year-old was thought to be garnering interest from Wolverhampton Wanderers, but that deal was thwarted as Chelsea attempted to beat their Premier League rivals to Diarra.

The 3AM Verdict: The Blues are assembling a roster full of promising teenagers, so it should come as no surprise that they are looking at a player who is impressing for a club owned by the same group that owns Stamford Bridge.

Red Devils could make move for Wolves star

A midfielder moving from Wolverhampton Wanderers to Manchester in a surprise deal has the feel of one you’ve heard before.

Joao Gomes chose Wolves because of the club’s appeal, not anything to do with finances.
According to Spanish website Fichajes, the red half of Manchester is aiming to follow their cross-city rivals by making a move for a Molineux player. Erik ten Hag is rumoured to be interested in signing Brazilian sensation Joao Gomes, only weeks after City signed Wolves midfielder Matheus Nunes.

The former Flamengo player joined Wolves in January of this year and has gradually adjusted to life in the Premier League. That is thought to have piqued Ten Hag’s interest as he attempts to further develop his group at Old Trafford.

The 3AM Verdict: It appears that this is the right player at the wrong time for Gomes. The Brazilian is still adjusting to life in the Premier League, and he will need time and patience before proving himself capable of dealing at one of the division’s most high-profile clubs.
