Pundits are surprised by reports that West Ham could sell their star center-back before the Saudi transfer deadline.
Gabby Agbonlahor has encouraged West Ham not to transfer one of their best defensive players, centre-back Aaron Cresswell, “under any circumstances” despite alleged interest from Saudi Arabia.
The former Aston Villa forward has urged David Moyes to take a harsh stance and prevent Nayef Aguerd from following in the footsteps of a number of other Premier League talents who have moved to the Saudi Pro League.
It was stated earlier this week that Al-Ittihad are contemplating a last-minute bid for the Hammers star before the transfer window closes on Thursday, September 7.
Morocco international, who had an amazing World Cup with Morocco in Qatar, only joined the London Stadium last summer in a £30 million deal from French club Rennes.
The 27-year-old was instrumental in Moyes’ side winning the Europa Conference League last season and has already made three appearances this season.
Aguerd is also under contract at the London Stadium until June 2027, with no indication of the sum involved.
And, according to Football Insider, Agbonlahor is sure that the Hammers must keep the player, saying: “I don’t think they should let him go under any circumstances.”
“He’s looking so confident next to Kurt Zouma right now, and the defense looks solid.”
“If I were David Moyes, I’d be begging the board not to let him go.” This team is exactly what he requires.
“They have a long season ahead of him in the Europa League, and it will be difficult.” In that competition, they will confront some difficult challenges.
“However, I don’t see the board siding with the manager and dismissing him.” I don’t think he’ll leave if Moyes doesn’t want him to.”
West Ham will return to action on September 16 against Manchester City at the London Stadium.
West Ham has taken a huge hit by signing their former player for free.
Jesse Lingard, a free agent, is being pursued by West Ham United. The former Hammer, who spent time on loan under David Moyes, is being evaluated as a short-term move for West Ham, as we revealed yesterday. He has been training in London for fitness reasons, but he appears to have impressed because Moyes is willing to sign him.
While the contract is only for one year, Lingard will be able to take up where he left off when he last played for the Hammers. He’s already a fan favorite after scoring numerous goals and providing assists during his time as a West Ham player.
West Ham United is one of three teams vying for Jesse Lingard.
However, it is believed that David Moyes has suffered a major setback in his pursuit of Jesse Lingard. According to Football Insider, the player is currently in a three-way competition, with Galatasaray and Fenerbahce also interested in signing him.
Jesse Lingard, who has played for a few Premier League clubs, may be interested in a new challenge in the Turkish league. However, this is just my view, but I believe he would prefer to stay in familiar surroundings by joining West Ham.
During the international break, West Ham are likely to make a short-term contract offer to midfielder Jesse Lingard.
As a player who has previously won the Europa League, it would be ideal to see him as a prominent figurehead in West Ham’s bid to capture the European title. However, they will face stiff opposition from Liverpool, who qualified for the second division of European football after missing out on the Champions League.
