Demarai Gray passes medical in London to leave Everton permanently, £90,000-a-week deal signed According to Asharq Al-Awsat, Everton winger Demarai Gray has finished his physical with Al-Ettifaq and is likely to finalize his move to the Saudi Arabian club within the next 48 hours.

Gray underwent the medical in London, according to the Arabic news source’s online version on Sunday [3 August].

Gray is expected to sign a three- or four-year contract with Al-Ettifaq, with a yearly salary of roughly $6 million (£4.8 million), which is also the sum Everton will earn for the transfer.
Finally

Everton attempted to offload Gray this summer, but no deal was completed before the European clubs’ transfer window closed on Friday [1 September].

However, a shift to Saudi Arabia or Turkey remained an option, and a deal now appears to be in the works for early next week.

Gray was previously connected with another Saudi Pro League club, Al-Shabab, so the transfer is not entirely unexpected.

The transfer fee may not be the most expensive, but it assures Gray’s wages are no longer owed to Everton, allowing the club to move on.
Gray had a great debut season at Goodison Park after coming from Leicester City in July 2021, scoring five Premier League goals and assisting four more, but he only contributed to five goals last season.

With this departure, Everton’s transfer business appears to be over for the year.

Sean Dyche will now have to work with what he has in order to retain Everton in the Premier League.

The summer’s concluding transactions added a bittersweet note to a transfer window that had brought real gains for Everton.

The team finally made an effort to reduce its reliance on Dominic Calvert-Lewin by signing Beto, and the frontline was strengthened by other bright signings like Arnaut Danjuma.

However, despite the fact that the decisions to sell Tom Cannon and Alex Iwobi were both financially sound and gave the team a much-needed late boost to its bottom line, each action served as a stinging reminder of how the team is still in a vulnerable situation since important elements of its present and future were given up.

It is believed that Everton did not want to take a chance on individuals they were dubious of, which is why the departures of both players did not result in fresh incomings. However, those actions as well as Neal Maupay’s departure carry a certain amount of danger. Sean Dyche’s roster is now considered to only contain a dozen senior outfield players who are healthy and available for the trip to Sheffield United due to deadline day activity.
