West Ham United work to finalise Yuri Alberto transfer, new terms emerge as Corinthians open up to deal
Tim Steidten is working to “finalise” a West Ham deal for Yuri Alberto amid a “complicated” set of negotiations in Brazil, according to 90min.
The outlet reported via their website late on 29 August that Corinthians have now communicated terms on which a deal could be done after initially having “no real interest”, with a €20million [£17.2m] fee with a significant 40% sell-on clause now possibly suitable.
The Hammers technical director is reportedly having to deal with a “raft of agents and intermediaries” involved in the deal, which is making matters less straight forward.
Steidten flew out earlier in the week to negotiate the move in person following success on a deal for Mohammed Kudus, with a dual-ownership situation involving both Corinthians and Alberto’s former side Zenit Saint Petersburg another complicating factor.
Late push
It looks like the Brazilian side have softened their stance on a deal and the chances of it getting done in the last few days of the window have increased.
As long as it is possible for West Ham to successful acquire all the rights to the 22-year-old from both clubs then it could be one of potentially multiple late moves to get done.
Clearly the Hammers are interested enough to send Steidten out in person when his valuable negotiating skills could be used elsewhere.
And with other Brazilian targets also in the club’s sights the German will hope to return to England with further success, after getting the signings of Konstantinos Mavropanos and then Kudus over the line.
The end of the transfer window has already proven far more fruitful at the London Stadium than most of the summer did.
And against a backdrop of a strong start to the Premier League season there is scope for it to get better still with various attacking options still apparently being targeted, although further departures also can’t be ruled out.
