Wolves now reject first bid of £47m for ‘superb’ player
Wolves have reportedly now rejected an opening bid from Manchester City for Matheus Nunes.
The Premier League champions are actively trying to sign the 24-year-old to bolster their midfield.
It was suggested last night by journalist Fabrizio Romano that City had lodged a first bid for Nunes.
He also said that Nunes had agreed personal terms with City.
And this morning, he said that City were looking to tie up a deal in the next 24-48 hours.
And now, it has been claimed that Wanderers have rejected a first offer from City…
Wolves reject first bid form Manchester City for Matheus Nunes
According to the Telegraph this morning, Wolves have now rejected a first official bid from City for Nunes.
The publication says that the bid was worth £47 million rising to £55 million, which is not that much more than what Wolves paid Sporting CP to sign him last summer (£42 million, all-in).
This first proposal was said to be ‘instantly turned down’ by Wanderers.
The offer has been deemed unacceptable by Wolves, as it has fallen well short of the club’s valuation.
The club still do not want to sell the player, who is described as having ‘superb dribbling technique under pressure’. But they must at least consider big offers, against the backdrop of a concerning financial situation.
It is stated that City are set to come back in with an improved offer for Nunes.
Good to see from Wolves
So Wolves have now rejected a first bid from City for Nunes.
£47 million rising to £55 million, if we are being honest, is a derisory offer.
Nunes is a very unique player and has the potential to become a top midfielder in the world.
We are a week away from the closure of the window, so City are going to have to do much better than that.
It has previously been suggested that Wolves would be looking for north of £60 million to even consider selling.
