£21M STAR ON PLANE WITH STEIDTEN AS WEST HAM TRANSFER IMMINENT
West Ham United are on the verge of signing Stuttgart defender Konstantinos Mavropanos after being spotted with Tim Steidten.
Konstantinos Mavropanos is on the verge of being confirmed as a West Ham United player as he nears a £21million move.
That is according to Sky Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg, who claims that Mavropanos is already a new player of West Ham.
Plettenberg claims that a medical was completed on Monday night and the deal is now completely in place.
Plettenberg even attached a photo of Mavropanos on a plane alongside agent Konstantinos Farras and West Ham technical director Tim Steidten.
The same photo emerged of Edson Alvarez before his move from Ajax to West Ham earlier this month with Steitdten snapped on both occasions.
Plettenberg adds that the deal will be worth a total of around £21million, made up of a fixed €20million (£17million) plus €5million (£4.2million) in add-ons.
Mavropanos is being given a five-year contract with West Ham until the summer of 2028 as he nears a return to London.
West Ham move on from Harry Maguire with Konstantinos Mavropanos deal
David Moyes has wanted to add a new centre back this summer and it looked like Harry Maguire was the top target.
A deal was in place for the Manchester United defender but that move broke down last week.
West Ham have wasted little time and now have a deal in place for a new centre back in Mavropanos.
The Greek international has excelled with Stuttgart, first in two seasons on loan and then in one season as a permanent player.
Mavropanos is no doubt desperate to seize this new Premier League chance having previously been with Arsenal.
The 25-year-old joined Arsenal from PAS Giannina back in January 2018 but made just seven Premier League appearances.
Mavopranos has plenty to prove and will be looking to shine upon his return to London with West Ham.
