England talent spotted in blue amid Rangers and West Ham links

Ronnie Edwards has been spotted in the blue of Peterborough United amid links to Rangers & West Ham and much discussion over his future.

The young England centre-back, 20, played the entire match as the Posh suffered a first defeat of the League One season, losing 1-0 late on to Northampton Town.

Mitch Pinnock’s late strike ended Peterborough’s run of three straight league wins with Ronnie Edwards powerless to prevent his side slipping to defeat.

The match comes amid much speculation over the future of Ronnie Edwards this summer, with Rangers mentioned as a potential suitor last week.

With the likes of West Ham and Bournemouth also mentioned, the fact the report originated from BBC Sport got plenty talking with the young defender, who is considered one of England’s brightest talents.

Rangers have also been repeatedly linked with a move for a new centre-back this summer, Ibrox manager Michael Beale recently admitting the club are on the hunt for a new addition.

Peterborough chairman Darragh MacAnthony even tipped Ronnie Edwards to go on and be a £70m player in a glowing testimony regarding his potential.

But as the week progressed, those links to Rangers appeared to get increasingly ambitious with Ibrox media partners Heart & Hand rubbishing the reports.

Peterborough sporting director Barry Fry has suggested that the Ronnie Edwards asking price might be substantially higher than what Rangers are willing to pay.

With West Ham’s reported £30m move for Harry Maguire collapsing, it appears the Hammers have cash to spend in the position and they may well be more able to fund a deal.

Rangers on the other hand will be wheeling and dealing as they look to get several players in and out of the club in the coming weeks.

Millwall centre-back Jake Cooper continues to be linked with a move into Rangers, whilst there remains plenty of conjecture surrounding the Ibrox future of former Preston captain Ben Davies.

With the transfer window entering its final ten days, Rangers fans are waiting to see if the club will reinforce the centre-back position.
