Semedo | Wolves will ‘take confidence’ from season opener
Nelson Semedo believes Wolves will be in confident mood heading into this weekend’s Premier League fixture against Brighton & Hove Albion after an impressive showing at Old Trafford in their season opener.
Although the Old Gold somehow left the north-west empty handed, Semedo feels the ‘incredible’ performance from his teammates against Manchester United will set up the squad well going into the first home game of the season as the Seagulls visit Molineux on Saturday.
On falling to United in opening game
“We did very well for a team that is starting with a new coach. The work we put on and also the way we played was very good, and we have a good sensation for the next games and we hope to get points.
“I did well, but more important was the team performance. That was really good. Everybody left the pitch with the sensation that we deserved better and we did enough to leave Old Trafford with at least a draw.
“I guess that’s a good feeling, everybody leaving the pitch mad because we deserved more.”
“It’s disappointing because I think we deserved more. At least a draw because we did enough to have at least a draw, but the game is gone and we’re going to have to keep working and looking forward to Brighton now at home.
“I hope the fans stay with us at home like they stayed with us today. The support was incredible, and we hope to give them back that support as well.”
On taking confidence into Brighton
“We’ve got to take this game and take confidence from it. I know that we lost the game but what we did on the pitch was incredible, everybody did a good performance.
“We’ve got to take this game as an example to keep working this way every day and try to get more points.”
“We had the new coach for four days only but what we did on the pitch was incredible. It’s been good and he’s got good ideas.
“We’re trying to go into his ideas as well and he’s trying to help us and we’re trying to help him as well. With more days of work we’re going to do a good season.”
