What Harry Maguire has said to West Ham as Man Utd receive £60m offer for fringe duo
Harry Maguire has reportedly performed a U-turn on his Manchester United exit stance after West Ham submitted a £60m double bid
Harry Maguire has performed a U-turn on his Manchester United exit stance after West Ham United submitted a third improved bid for a summer transfer, according to reports. West Ham are gunning for Maguire and Red Devils team-mate Scott McTominay as David Moyes pushes for reinforcements.
Maguire had previously snubbed the idea of an Old Trafford exit this summer, despite starting just eight Premier League games last season.
But after Ten Hag stripped him of the United captaincy and confirmed his second-string status by leaving him out of Saturday’s friendly against RC Lens, Maguire’s stance seems to have changed.
According to The Athletic, West Ham have offered a combined £60m for Maguire and McTominay, both in the shop window for the right price.
And the report claims that the London Stadium club have been sent encouragement that Maguire is willing to join.
West Ham are ready to table a £100,000-per-week contract, a decline on the United No 5’s current £190,000 weekly package after the club’s return to the Champions League.
West Ham have bid £60m for Man Utd duo Harry Maguire and Scott McTominay.
There may be work to do on that front, but Moyes will be confident he can convince Maguire to join his project as West Ham gear up for another Europa League campaign
The Hammers have already seen two approaches for Maguire turned down; first, a loan offer before bidding £20m, a quarter of the world-record £80m United paid Leicester City in 2019
But the report states that their third attempt, around £30m, is nearing the price tag United would be happy to accept.
Maguire’s future has, and still is, down to him, though. Ten Hag is willing to keep him as an option if his former skipper wants to remain in M16.
Harry Maguire isn’t in Erik ten Hag’s Man Utd plans.
