West Ham United transfer news: White smoke expected in next 48 hours as Gianluca Scamacca close to ‘Sensational’ transfer to Inter Milan
Gianluca Scamacca is close to a “sensational” transfer away from West Ham, with “white smoke” expected on a move to Inter within 48 hours according to Calciomercato.
Writing on their official website (1 August), the two clubs are close to an agreement worth around £21m and the player has already agreed to move to the San Siro.
The Hammers want a permanent sale rather than a loan to speed up the process, and Inter believe a deal could be agreed within the next 48 hours for the Italy international.
“The negotiation with West Ham is very advanced. As learned by CM.IT, the two clubs are also at work in these hours to reach a meeting point,” they wrote. “Meeting point that could be found on the 25 million euros (£21.4m).
“West Ham, on the other hand, wanted and still wants a permanent sale, a formula put in place immediately by Marotta and Ausilio (an unconditional loan would be the same) to shorten the times of the operation. White smoke is expected in the next 24-48 hours.”
It’s a real shame that West Ham and Scamacca are set to cut ties with each other after just one year together where we never saw the best of one another.
Scamacca started his first season well before injuries and the poor form of the team meant he struggled badly, while West Ham never really found their rhythm throughout the campaign despite winning the Europa Conference League.
But it’s been clear for a while that Scamacca wants to leave the club and a return to Italy is the best option for everyone. With that said, the fee is definitely on the low side.
West Ham paid around £35m to sign the 24-year-old last year and his stock clearly hasn’t dropped that badly considering the teams looking to sign him. We should be getting more and not settling just to get him out of the door.
Keeping him is clearly out of the question at this point, and we need time to get a replacement in, but we can surely get more money than that for a top young striker.
In other West Ham news, Fabrizio Romano says an agreement is expected “within days” as Hammers star set for exit.
