Dejan Kulusevski may quit Tottenham if the club is “not careful” and will have a choice of where to go, according to Owen Hargreaves.
Spurs have had a disappointing season thus far, sitting 15th in the Premier League, just eight points clear of the relegation zone.
Kulusevski, on the other hand, has been a bright spot for Ange Postecoglou’s team this season.
The Sweden international has nine goals and eight assists in 33 appearances for Tottenham this season.
Hargreaves has already warned that if Kulusevski continues in his current form, he may attract attention that Spurs may struggle to avoid if they do not improve their own form.
Speaking about the winger on TNT Sports before of Spurs’ Europa League match against Hoffenheim on Thursday (23 January), the former Manchester United and England midfielder stated (5:34)
“He’s a world-class talent, and if Tottenham isn’t careful, despite having such a strong roster, he could play for anyone.
“I believe he is truly that excellent, and they are fortunate that he has been as consistent as he has. He and [Dominic] Solanke have helped carried the team, but the other boys need to come up.”
Ange Postecoglou will fear Dejan Kulusevski Tottenham exit
In what has been an extremely underwhelming season so far, Postecoglou has already been under plenty of pressure this season.
The Australian would therefore see it as a major blow if Kulusevski was to leave Tottenham at some point in the near future.
Having bailed his team and manager out on several occasions, Spurs could slip up even more if he leaves, making it increasingly hard for Postecoglou to keep his job.
Kulusevski though will know that he can play at a much higher level than a team sat 15th in the Premier League, especially as they are likely relying on Europa League success to remain in Europe next season.
That could therefore make an exit from Tottenham tempting for him, especially considering other clubs could be tempted to move for a player performing as well as he is in a troubled side.
With that in mind their excellent start against Hoffenheim in that game may have been a relief for Spurs for a number of reasons, having gone into a 2-0 lead via James Maddison and Son Heung-min.
