What will the Red Sox do over the next few weeks?
Over the past three days, free agency in Major League Baseball has begun to improve. Tanner Scott and Kirby Yates were signed by the Los Angeles Dodgers, while Anthony Santander was signed by the Toronto Blue Jays for an estimated $92.5 million.
Although the Red Sox haven’t been active lately, that could change. Bregman is still associated with the Red Sox and is available for acquisition. Jon Heyman of the New York Post even stated on MLB Network that the Red Sox are his “most likely” landing place.
“Bregman is an interesting one,” said Heyman. Since I’m currently hearing that five teams are involved, I do think it will be fantastic for him. The Red Sox are definitely one of the five clubs, though I’m not positive. I am aware that he would probably have to play second base, and he is prepared to do so. He’s excellent at short; I’ve watched him take grounders there. He got a Gold Glove last year and is a great defender. He seems like a good fit for them, since they haven’t signed a major player yet.As we sit here right now, I believe they have the best chance of signing Alex Bregman.
He obviously faces fierce competition, but a move just seems too obvious. This offseason, he’s probably going to sign a contract worth over $100 million, and Boston can definitely afford it. Look out for Bregman in Boston.
