Lenny Kravitz reveals he’s celibate and the shocking amount of time he hasn’t dated

Lenny Kravitz opened up about his love life in a recent interview

Lenny Kravitz has lifted the lid on his love life in a recent interview.

The singer’s most well-known relationship was with ex-wife Lisa Bonet, with whom he shares a daughter, Zöe Kravitz, which ended in 1993.

Since then, he’s had a few relationships; however, in 2008, he decided to abstain from sex.

At the time, he told Maxim: “[It’s] just a promise I made until I get married. Where I’m at in life, the women have got to come with something else, not just the body, but the mind and spirit.

“It usually trips them out, but that’s the way it’s going to be. I’m looking at the big picture.”

However, later, he claimed his comment was ‘blown out of proportion’—but he has recently opened up more about his decision

When asked by The Guardian whether his celibacy comment was serious, Kravitz said: “It’s a spiritual thing.”

He also told the publication that he hadn’t been in a serious relationship for nine years, however, while he’d like to be in one, he thinks it would be difficult, adding: “I have become very set in my ways, in the way I live.”

The Hunger Games star also opened up about his past of being a ‘player’ after his marriage – something that his father had said would happen to him.

In his memoir, Let Love Rule, Kravitz elaborated further, talking about the time he’d heard his father on the phone with one of his many mistresses.

When he told his father how he felt, his father responded that he would do the same – and Kravitz said he was ‘right’.

He said: “He became right. After the marriage, I became more like him. I was becoming a player.

“I didn’t like it. I didn’t want to be that guy. So I had to tackle that and it took years… by taking responsibility. Discipline. Not letting my own desires take over.”

Kravitz recently celebrated his 60th birthday on Sunday (26 May) – however, it would be hard to tell – even his future son-in-law Channing Tatum voiced what everyone was thinking.

When asked by The Guardian about his youthful appearance, he said: “I can barely believe it myself. But it’s beautiful.”

But it’s not all down to good genes – rather, it’s a mix of things.

“It’s a combination of genes, self-care, hard work and discipline.” Kravitz said.

He went on to explain: “Well, there’s a lot of hard work and discipline in being healthy for me. That means when I want to eat junk, I don’t do it.

“Take last night. I worked all day, interviews, rehearsing into the night, get home at 11:00pm. I need to eat something. Now it’s 1:00am. I didn’t get my workout. “So I went to the gym and I did a 90-minute workout at 2am.

“I don’t want to be in the gym at 2:00am, but I know that I must. Because it’s part of my discipline – it’s about body, mind and spirit.

“I want all of those three elements aligned. If my body’s in shape and my spirit and mind are not, then it’s just something nice to look at or to boast about.
