7:28 a.m- Iowa’s four-star dual-threat quarterback James Resar makes it official. Resar was among the first commits in the 2024 class and should add plenty of athleticism in the Iowa quarterback room. When Brian Ferentz was let go, there was a bit of unease with him, but after talking to Kirk Ferentz, he opted to remain a Hawkeye.
7:33 a.m.- The Tory Taylor replacement has arrived. After months of being in secret, the ProKick Australia punter announced that he would attend Iowa. Rhys Dakin will be on full scholarship upon arrival.
7:38 a.m.- Jaylen Watson is officially a Hawkeye. The cornerback out of Ohio put together a spectacular final season and drew more interest. But after committing to Iowa over the summer, he was all-in on becoming a Hawkeye.
7:41 a.m- Rashad Godfrey has signed. Iowa continues to try to build a Florida pipeline and Godfrey could be the latest steal in the class. The Plant City native officially visited Iowa over the summer and didn’t wait long after to commit. The 6-foot-2 185-pounder is set to arrive on campus in June.
8:06 a.m.- Reece Vander Zee is staying home. The big-bodied receiver selected the Hawkeyes over Iowa State in the summer. Vander Zee brings a good deal of athleticism and size to an Iowa receiver room that is hoping to rebuild itself.
8:36 a.m.- The in-state talent continues to be locked down as standout four-star linebacker Cam Buffington has signed with Iowa. Buffington was one of the first commits in the 2024 class and was one of the most versatile and dominant players in Iowa. He’ll need to continue to put on weight and learn the intricacies of playing linebacker, but he could be one to watch in the near future with his upside.
8:39 a.m.- Bodey McCaslin is a Hawkeye. McCaslin committed to Iowa back in May and never wavered. George Barnett and the Iowa staff is excited about the future of the Iowa offensive line. They started out strong with a solid 2023 recruiting class and they feel just as good about the group that they have coming in this year.
8:49 a.m.- The MaxPreps Iowa Player of the Year is a Hawkeye. Projected linebacker Preston Ries was one of the state’s best and put together a compelling season for his squad. At quarterback, Ries completed 62.8 percent of his passes for 2,559 yards, 24 touchdowns, and nine interceptions. He had 251 carries for 1,926 yards, and 33 touchdowns on the ground. On defense, he had 97 tackles, 27.5 tackles for a loss, and five sacks.
8:56 a.m.- The big-bodied powerful back is a Hawkeye. Xavier Williams has made it official with Iowa. Williams missed six games due to a sprained MCL in his senior season. He played in five games and had 94 carries for 669 yards, and four touchdowns. He’s a traditional Big Ten back that should work well with the way Iowa wants to run the football.
8:58 a.m.- Cody Fox has signed the dotted line. The first commit in Iowa’s 2024 class is part of the Swarm. The 6-foot-4 275-pounder out of East Buchanan, IA played an important part on the offensive line as EB had 3,308 rushing yards as a team. On defense, Fox had 62.5 tackles, nine tackles for a loss, and four sacks.
9:09 a.m.- Derek Weisskopf has signed with the Hawkeyes. The Uber-athletic linebacker was one of the highest raisers over the past few months. The Williamsburg native came out on top in Class 3A as state champs. Weisskopf took over at quarterback in the second half of the season, completing 58.2 percent of his passes for 1,123 yards, 20 touchdowns, and four interceptions. He also had 57 carries for 317 yards, and two touchdowns, with 14 receptions for 212 yards, and four touchdowns. On defense, he had 50 tackles and four interceptions, including one that was a pick-six.
9:16 a.m.- Kelvin Bell and Jay Riemann are two happy people because the defensive line class at Iowa is one of the top parts of what they have going on in the 2024 class. Anderson had 76 total tackles, 23 tackles for a loss, and seven sacks. The 6-foot-5 frame has room to continue to put on more strength and weight, but this will be one to watch.
9:26 a.m.- The Hawkeye legacy Drew Campbell has followed in his brother’s footsteps. The high-upside defensive end is hoping to carve out his own legacy in the black & gold. He earned a few offers before realizing that he wanted to become a Hawkeye. During his final year of high school, Campbell finished the year with 64.5 tackles, 21 tackles for a loss, and nine sacks.
9:37 a.m.- Devan Kennedy is a Hawkeye. The late-rising defensive end earned offers from Penn State and several others before selecting Iowa. Kennedy started his football journey later in life, but his physical tools give him a high-upside. During his second full year of football, he finished with 49 tackles, 8.5 tackles for a loss, 4.5 sacks, and 18 quarterback hurries in 13 games.
9:42 a.m- From Texas to Iowa– defensive lineman Chima Chineke is a Hawkeye. Chineke is is full of potential and has a chance to be an impact player during his career as a Hawkeye. Chineke has a variety of great pass rushing moves and showed an increased prowess in the run game. In 10 games, Chineke had 48 tackles, eight tackles for a loss, and 5.5 sacks on the defensive line, with a pass deflection.
9:57 a.m.- Four-star offensive lineman Will Nolan is a Hawkeye. HawkeyeInsider’s Sean Bock was on-site and will have a story with quotes later this afternoon. Again, don’t expect any surprises today for Iowa.
10:00 a.m.- High-three star tight end Michael Burt has joined TEU. Burt’s numbers aren’t eye-popping because of his school’s style of play, but this is a guy with good size, speed and physical tools to take the next steps at Iowa. He fits in well with the way operates and can become an impact player if he can piece things together. Burt had 15 catches for 270 yards, and three touchdowns in Creighton Prep’s run-heavy offense.
10:09 a.m.- Running back Brevin Doll brings a great deal of speed to Iowa’s running back room. The speedster’s first offer came from Army, then Kansas State extended an offer a few months before his junior season. Following his junior campaign, where he helped lead Adel to the UNI-Dome, he added offers from Oklahoma State, Iowa, Purdue, Minnesota, and Iowa State. In two and a half games, Doll had 40 carries for 347 yards, and four touchdowns. He also had six receptions for 116 yards, and two touchdowns.
10:12 a.m.- Offensive lineman Josh Janowski put his signature on paper to make it official. Janowski’s recruitment consisted of offers from three MAC programs in Ball State, Bowling Green, and Toledo following his junior season. Iowa has a great relationship with the staff at Lincoln-Way East and hosted Janowski for a couple of visits, and offered in January of 2023. Despite playing for an Illinois powerhouse, Iowa was his only power-five offer.
10:17 a.m.- Gavin Hoffman was one of the biggest recruiting wins for Iowa in this recruiting cycle. He is expected to be on campus in January and is one of the most athletic prospects Iowa has had in the tight end room for the past couple of seasons. Hoffman had 22 receptions for 542 yards, and six touchdowns in eight games, but his combination of size and speed along with ball skills give the Hawkeyes a versatile weapon.
3:46 p.m.- KJ Parker was going to sign in the morning, but he wanted to wait to be with his mom while he signed. After school was out, Parker made it official with the Hawkeyes. The speedster out of Illinois will be a welcome addition to Kelton Copeland’s receiver room.
