Sheff Utd transfers: Heckingbottom raves over second summer signing as loan deal wrapped up

Sheffield United have signed Yasser Larouci from Troyes on a season-long loan with an option to make the deal permanent.

The former Liverpool defender, 22, is the Blades’ second summer signing following their promotion to the Premier League.

Larouci, a France Under-21 international, told the club’s official website: “To play for Sheffield United and play in the Premier League, I think this is a good project for me. I am happy.

We (Paul Heckingbottom) talked about the team, the project here and the formation and I think that will suit my game.

“I know a few players here like Rhian (Brewster) and Iliman (Ndiaye), so that will be good to see them again and to work with them.

“I can’t wait to play. Hopefully I can play a part in some of the friendly games, and I will have time to show what I can do on the pitch. It is a chance for me to adapt with the team and everything else.”

Larouci began his career at Le Havre and after joining Liverpool as a free agent in 2017 went on to make one appearance for Jurgen Klopp’s side, as a substitute in a 1-0 FA Cup win against Everton in January 2020.

Blades boss thrilled with new addition

Blades boss Paul Heckingbottom added: “He’s a very front-footed player, he’s quick and loves to break forward from defensive positions, which is how we want to play.

“He’s played wing-back at his last club, but he’s also been comfortable in a back four as well. We’re really pleased to get this one done.”

The Blades signed Tunisia international Anis Slimane last week from Danish club Brondby on a three-year deal for an undisclosed fee, understood to be around £1.2million.

Sheffield United to complete double whammy as Benie Traore set to join despite Rangers interest

Paul Heckingbottom is set for another transfer boost with the arrival of Ivorian striker Benie Traore

Sheffield United are set to seal their third summer signing with the arrival of Benie Traore. The Ivorian striker is on the verge of completing his move, following in the footsteps of Yasser Larouci.

French under-21 international Larouci joined on a season-long loan yesterday and Paul Heckingbottom is set for a double whammy with the capture of the 20-year-old striker, who has been making a name for himself in the Swedish Allsvenskan League.

It’s another piece in the jigsaw and Heckingbottom’s squad planning is now coming along nicely. Taking into account the signing of Anis Slimane, the Blades boss will have added a defender, midfielder and forward to his squad ahead of the upcoming Premier League campaign.

At 20 years old, the striker is an exciting proposition.
