Luton Town agrees Utilita main shirt sponsorship and Freenow sleeve deal

Newly promoted Premier League side Luton Town FC has announced a front-of-shirt sponsorship extension with pay-as-you-go energy supplier Utilita as the “biggest ever sponsorship deal in the club’s history”.

The deal will see the brand continue to adorn the Luton Town men’s first team, women and youth team shirts during the 2023-24 season, the team’s first campaign in the top flight since 1991-92.

Luton Town – Goalkeeper Situation Comes Under The Microscope Again

It’s Monday morning and with the start of a new working week we still await news as to who will be between the posts, for Luton Town, next season.

With only James Shea and Matt Macey on the books, I believe we need to bring in at least one new keeper or even possibly two.

Throughout the summer several candidates to fulfil the role have been covered on this site Thomas Kaminski and Asmir Begovic being two that instantly spring to mind.

But, glancing through numerous media articles, there is nothing to suggest either will be coming to the club.

However, the name of Tom Heaton continues to be promoted with the latest offering coming from United In Focus, which is running with the inference that once the goalkeeping situation, at Old Trafford, has been sorted then the club may be prepared to release the former Burnley keeper.

United, like us, are desperate to add another keeper to their squad with David de Gea having opted to leave Old Trafford this summer.

But, with so many loose ends to tie up, the arrival of Tom Heaton could be delayed for another week or two which, if that is the case, diminishes the amount of time Heaton would have to familiarise himself with the defence that will be sat in front of him come the start of the season.

However, like I’ve mentioned before, there are so many ifs and buts to this suggestion and time is running out.

Luton Town now hoping for green light to sign Manchester United player

Luton Town are now hoping to receive the green light in their pursuit of Manchester United stopper Tom Heaton.

The Hatters are preparing for life in the Premier League after going up through the Championship playoffs.

We have already seen Rob Edwards spend £4million on former Manchester United talent Tahith Chong.

More signings will be coming and Luton seemingly want to bring in Tom Heaton too.

The Sun claim that Luton are hoping ‘to get a thumbs up’ from Manchester United in their pursuit of Heaton.

It’s stated that United may be willing to let Heaton go once they bring in new goalkeeping additions.

Luton Town move may appeal to Tom Heaton

Luton went up with Ethan Horvath in goal with the American taking on a key role after joining on loan from Nottingham Forest.

The Hatters have decided not to sign Horvath permanently though and are in the market for a new goalkeeper.

Heaton appears to be on target as they seemingly seek Premier League experience in the hope of staying up.

The 37-year-old isn’t going to become United’s first-choice stopper any time soon and may well fancy the chance to play regularly at Kenilworth Road.

Heaton has just one year left on his contract after United activated an option in his deal this summer.

Heaton is another homegrown United player linked with exit

The reason why Heaton has been so appealing as a backup goalkeeper is that he counts as a homegrown player.

Heaton came up in the United ranks as a kid before leaving for Cardiff City in 2010.

Not only does Heaton count as a homegrown English player, but also as a club-trained player.

These players are vital for Champions League football and some may be leaving United this summer.

Dean Henderson, Scott McTominay and Anthony Elanga all count as United-trained players but they are being linked away from Old Trafford.

Mason Greenwood’s future remains unclear and Zidane Iqbal has already moved on, whilst Brandon Williams may well want football away from United.

Heaton’s exit could open up the registration of some young players into the Champions League squad for this coming season, with a decision over his exit maybe not entirely straightforward.
