James Trafford undergoing Burnley medical after Man City accept club-record bid – sources

James Trafford is set to undergo a Burnley medical and complete a £19million move from Man City, sources have told Football Insider.

The England Under-21 goalkeeper hero is now able to put the finishing touches to the Clarets’ club-record signing following the end of his international involvement.

Burnley have agreed the structure of the deal with City, with the fee an initial £15m rising to £19m with add-ons.

However, 15 per cent of that sum will go to Trafford’s former club Carlisle United due to a sell-on clause inserted in the deal.

Football Insider first broke the news on 15 May that Clarets boss Vincent Kompany was planning to raid his former side to sign the 20-year-old goalkeeper sensation.

Kompany watched Trafford in action for loan club Bolton during their playoff semi-final draw against Barnsley on 13 May.

Kompany has identified the England Under-21 international as a “star in the making”, one source said.

Trafford kept six consecutive clean sheets and saved a last-minute penalty in the final as England won the European Under-21 Championship.

The 20-year-old made 52 appearances across all competitions for Bolton in the 2022-23 season and kept 26 clean sheets in those outings.

Burnley are looking for reinforcements between the sticks after being promoted for the Premier League following an impressive Championship-winning campaign.

Current number one Arijanet Muric also joined from Man City and put pen to paper on a four-year deal with the Clarets last summer.

Report: 22-year-old Man City player now close to sealing transfer move to Premier League club

Manchester City defender, Issa Kabore, is reportedly close to sealing a transfer move to newly promoted Premier League club Luton Town.

The 22-year-old recently completed his third loan spell away from the Manchester club as he spent last season with Marseille.

Now though, the youngster could be on his way out of the Etihad Stadium once again, this time for another temporary stint at a club quite closer to home.

Kabore close to Luton loan deal

According to a recent report from L’Equipe, the defender is close to joining Luton on loan as long as he gives the green light for the move.

City signed the Burkina Faso international back in the 2020 summer transfer window from Belgian club KV Mechelen.

Since then, the full-back has had loan spells back at his former club, as well as fellow City Football Group club FC Troyes and Marseille.

Last season saw the defender start 11 of the 29 games he played in for Marseille, chipping in with one goal which came during their 2-2 draw against Strasbourg in Ligue 1.

With a potential loan move to Luton on the table, this could be an ideal move for all parties if he’d be guaranteed regular playing time.

Specifically, it would help Luton strengthen their squad for their upcoming Premier League campaign, it’d help Kabore get the feel of what it’s like to play in the top flight and it would give City the chance to see how he fares in it and if he’s capable of potentially being part of their squad in the future.
