Preseason finale: Bryce Young recalls on his first NFL touchdown

Bryce Young, a rookie quarterback for the Carolina Panthers, scored his first NFL touchdown on Friday night. What was his reaction to it, then?

The second possession of Friday night’s preseason finale, which resulted with a 16-yard pass to wideout Adam Thielen in the end zone, was posed to the first choice overall in the 2023 draft. As usual, Young gave his colleagues credit for the achievement.

He answered, “I thought it was a great drive, from us as a unit.” “I believe that the front line performed admirably throughout the run and pass game. The passing game and receivers do a fantastic job of getting open. And entering and adding that in the run game. Fantastic work protecting and rushing the ball, running backs.

Thus, I believe it was just well executed. Effective dialogue. Whenever we manage to be effective, get things rolling quickly, and sort of maintain momentum. For my part, all I’m trying to do is execute the plays that Coach Reich calls.

Young was relied upon by Reich to complete seven of his twelve throws for a preseason-high 73 yards. Now that his summer performances are over, he has completed 58.3% of passes for 129 yards, one touchdown, and no interceptions.

The question of whether it was best for him and the offense to finish that summer on a high note was then posed to Young.

“It’s fantastic to be able to record that and use it as coaching material,” he remarked. “Once more, there are still areas in which I need to grow better, and we want to progress as a team. Naturally, though, you want to try your hardest as a team to maintain that momentum and grow on it.

The Panthers are hoping that this momentum carries over to Mercedes-Benz Stadium on September 10.
