Cowboys Recruit Cristian Garcia, Coach of Washington, to Assist Mike Zimmer NFL on defense Tracker for Dallas
February 24: DIRECTORS TO COWBOYS The Cowboys have added another coach to their staff. Additionally, players are once more switching offices between this location and Washington.
Cristian Garcia is the new defensive quality control coach for the Cowboys. He assisted in coaching the defensive backs coach in the 2023 campaign.
After hiring Jeff Zgonina as their defensive line coach, the Cowboys have grabbed him as their second Commanders coach. Naturally, Dan Quinn leads the back-and-forth between the positions. Quinn was the Cowboys’ defensive coordinator before departing to become the Commander’s head coach, taking Joe Whitt Jr. and Sharrif Floyd with him.
In 2017, Garcia concluded his playing career as the captain of the club at Florida.
Feb. 20: Pilbin’s return An experienced hand and a Mike McCarthy supporter are joining the Raiders staff.
Joe Philbin, the former head coach of the Dolphins, is the man; according to NFL Network, he will be their new senior offensive assistant in Vegas.
Prior to most recently serving as an Ohio State senior analyst, Philbin was the O-line coach for the Dallas Cowboys. However, Philbin is currently back in the NFL to provide his expertise to Antonio Pierce’s staff as a full-time, first-year coach.
LYNN TO DC ON FEB 14 – Dan Quinn recently expanded his coaching staff in Washington by adding another well-known player, this one with links to the Cowboys.
Anthony Lynn will join the Commanders as their new run-game coordinator. .. and the 55-year-old Lynn has a plethora of expertise, including time spent coaching the Dallas running backs.
After serving as head coach of the Los Angeles Chargers from 2017 to 20, Lynn has served as the 49ers’ associate head coach for the past two seasons. The 49ers just lost to the Kansas City Chiefs in the Super Bowl.
Born in Dallas, Lynn still keeps her family home in Frisco. But like Quinn, he’s now a DC man after being a Dallas guy!
‘I’M NOT THE GM,’ FEB 8. Why does Mike McCarthy still lead the Dallas Cowboys as their coach? Fans may still be curious about it in light of the fact that the team’s third consecutive 12-win season ended in an early playoff loss. Additionally, Emmitt Smith, the Cowboys’ all-time leading rusher, was recently asked this question:
Smith said, “Because I’m not the GM,” on Thursday, Andrew Perloff reported.
Put differently, Emmitt isn’t exactly supporting McCarthy’s continued employment.
Rumors of Bill Belichick’s firing in New England persisted, and in the immediate wake of the Cowboys’ humiliating defeat to the Green Bay Packers in the NFC Wildcard game, it appeared as though club owner Jerry Jones might break up with McCarthy.
But when the two met, Jones thought it would be best to bring McCarthy back to Dallas for his fifth and maybe last season because his contract ends the following year.
FEB. 7 ANOTHER APPETIZER By setting up an interview with New York Jets safeties coach Marquand Manuel, the Cowboys have expanded their pool of potential defensive coordinator candidates.
Thursday is Marquand’s interview date, as first reported by ESPN.
The Cowboys have fielded candidates including Mike Zimmer, Ron Rivera, Wink Martindale, and Rex Ryan to succeed Dan Quinn, who departed to take a head coaching position with the Commanders.
Along with Manuel, 44, who previously worked for Quinn as an assistant coordinator in Atlanta and was a player for Mike McCarthy’s Packers in the past, all of them have coordinator experience.
