Rodrygo, 23, was questioned about his wish to play with PSG attacker Kylian Mbappé, 25, at Real Madrid in an interview with AS.
The Brazil international seems excited about the possibility of playing alongside the France captain at the Santiago Bernabéu, saying to the Spanish outlet, “I would love for him to come here.” He is among the greatest players in the world, and that is what I always want to play with
Although Rodrygo expressed excitement about Kylian Mbappé joining Real Madrid, he was cautious, saying, “I would love to play with him, but I can’t talk too much about him.” His status as a PSG player is something I have to honor.
Mbappé’s ultimate decision is still pending.
In contrast to Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti who refused to answer a question about Mbappe following Saturday’s crucial victory over title-competing Girona, Rodrygo have a glowing review of the World Cup winner.
The Brazilian would likely have to compete with his French counterpart should he make the switch to the Santiago Bernabeu in the summer, although that doesn’t appear to have discouraged his view.
‘I would love for him to come here. I always want to play with the best players and he is one of the best in the world,’ Rodrygo told AS.
‘I would love to play with him, but I can’t talk too much about him. He’s a PSG player and I have to respect that’.
The 25-year-old has been touted for a move to Madrid since he burst onto the scene as a youngster at Monaco.
He eventually joined the Parisians in a £163million transfer in 2017, despite Madrid trying to compete for his signature at the time as well.
Mbappe has thrived since then by winning numerous titles with PSG and guiding France to the World Cup in 2018 and another final four-years later that was lost to Argentina on penalties.
However, the Champions League has evaded the star striker’s grasp despite PSG’s ambitions to become European champions and a move to Madrid is beckoning.
