Draymond Green: NBA player suspended indefinitely following altercation with Jusuf Nurkic

Draymond Green, a forward for the Golden State Warriors, has been suspended indefinitely for hitting Jusuf Nurkic of the Phoenix Suns in the face.

Green was dismissed from the game during the Warriors’ 119-116 loss, his third this season.

His “repeated history of unsportsmanlike acts” led the NBA to impose an unusual, indefinite suspension on him.

Before being permitted to play again, the 33-year-old would “need to meet certain league and team conditions,” according to the league.

The NBA very seldom suspends players for an infinite period of time; instead, punishments are usually for a set number of games.

“Unnecessary and excessive contact” is what the referees called Green’s swinging arm into Nurkic’s face during the third quarter.

After flailing his arm in an attempt to draw a foul call and thinking he had been unfairly held back, the four-time NBA champion subsequently expressed regret to Nurkic.

The Suns player expressed his continued dissatisfaction, asking “What’s going on with him? I am not sure. That brother seems to require assistance, in my opinion.”

Green hit Phoenix Suns player Jusuf Nurkic in the face, earning him his third ejection of the season.

This episode is the most recent in a lengthy string of disciplinary actions taken against Green.

On November 14, he headlocked Minnesota Timberwolves center Rudy Gobert, and was punished with a five-game suspension.

The forward was also sidelined during the playoffs in April after stamping on Domantas Sabonis of the Sacramento Kings, and he was also tossed for two technical fouls against the Cleveland Cavaliers earlier in November.

For delivering a low hit to LeBron James in game five of the 2016 NBA Finals over the Cleveland Cavaliers, he was also infamously banned.

The 11th-place Warriors (10–13) in the Western Conference take on the Clippers in Los Angeles.
