Rasul Douglas of the Bills on his injury: “I’ll get through it”
MITCHELL, Florida – Rasul Douglas, a cornerback for the Buffalo Bills, suffered a knee injury during the first half of the team’s game against the Miami Dolphins on Sunday night. Despite this setback, Douglas stated he was certain he would be ready for the team’s playoff opening against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
In the locker room after the game, he remarked, “I’m going to get through it.” “We’ll see what’s going on (Monday), and we’ll go from there.”
In the second quarter, Douglas had a left knee injury and entered the sideline medical tent. Before going back into the tent, he came out and attempted to test the knee. After that, he would be assessed further in the locker room and it would be dubious for him to come back.
Douglas said he was going to try to come back into the game, but fellow cornerback Dane Jackson was confident that if Douglas wasn’t 100% good, Jackson could handle the job.
I was just like, ‘Go ahead bro,'” Douglas said. “And I’d rather him be 100 (percent) out there, than me not being 100.”
Douglas said Jackson and Christian Benford both played great games. Still, it was tough to stay on the sideline.
I don’t usually get hurt like that, so that was the first time,” Douglas remarked. “I would prefer not to watch plays from the sidelines. Be in the game, please.
Before the injury, Douglas played 25 snaps, or 48% of the defensive snaps.
After being acquired by the Bills from the Green Bay Packers after the trade deadline, Douglas has given the team reliable defense play. In nine games after the deal, he has recovered two fumbles, a sack, and four interceptions.
Brandon Beane, general manager, has praised Douglas’ readiness and his gut feelings.
Beane told The Buffalo News, “He just has a natural sense of how the game is played and what they’re trying to accomplish.” “And then, a lot of individuals possess that, but they lack the ball skills in addition to it. He has excellent ball abilities with it. And I believe we’ve seen it, that he’s had a few key games for us in terms of turnovers, either to set up our offense for a successful scoring opportunity or even to score a touchdown himself (against the Patriots).
