Appropriately, Rookie Punter Pats Tracker is the only New England Patriots player to have made it to the Pro Bowl.
With seven kicks over 60 yards and a league-high 31 downed inside the 20-yard line, rookie punter Bryce Baringer is a Pro Bowl contender in an otherwise disappointing offensive season for the New England Patriots.
Among the Pro Bowl vote leaders, the Patriots have one player on December 13. Not surprisingly, given the forgettable season the Patriots are having—they could finish with their worst record in thirty years—and the possibility that legendary coach Bill Belichick may lose his position, New England is nearly shut out of the Pro Bowl voting. It also makes sense that the punter could be their only AFC representative.
Rookie Bryce Baringer is the only Patriots player to lead his position in fan voting released by the NFL on Wednesday. Baringer is only 18th in the NFL with an average of 47.1 yards, but he leads the league with 31 kicks downed inside the opponent’s 20. He has boomed seven punts over 60 yards, including kicks of 70 and 79. He had a 66-yarder in last week’s upset win over the Steelers in Pittsburgh.
A sign of the 3-10 Patriots’ paltry offense: Baringer has 72 punts; the offense only 19 touchdowns.
The Pats only sent one player to the Pro Bowl the previous season, edge rusher Matthew Judon. The last time they sent just one player was in 2000, prior to 2022. The Pats had eight or ten Pro Bowl players on a regular basis during their two-decade dynasty.
