Eagles waive Christian Ellis and formally sign Shaquille Leonard

In preparation for their matchup with the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday, the Eagles made a number of roster changes on Wednesday.

Shaquille Leonard was added to the active roster.

Linebacker Shaquille Leonard and the Eagles came to terms on Monday, December 4, and Leonard is now a member of the active roster.

The Indianapolis Colts waived the former All-Pro earlier this season after he played for the team for six seasons. Leonard had 65 tackles in nine games this season with the Colts.

The 28-year-old has 614 tackles, 17 forced fumbles, 15 sacks, and 12 interceptions in 68 career games.

“Shaq’s been an all-down, All-Pro linebacker in this league,” said Defensive Coordinator Sean Desai. “We’re excited to get him in here and get working with him, kind of teach him our stuff, and have him part of that room and compete with everybody and then move forward that way.”

Waived Christian Elliss from the active roster

The Eagles have waived linebacker Christian Elliss from the active roster.

In 12 games this season, Elliss has 16 tackles, two tackles for loss, and one quarterback pressure. The 24-year-old made his first career start in Week 13 against the San Francisco 49ers.

The undrafted free agent joined the organization in 2021 after being waived by the Minnesota Vikings. Elliss made 26 tackles in 19 games with the Eagles.

Signed Greg Ward to the practice squad

The Eagles have signed wide receiver Greg Ward to the practice squad.

Ward was released from the practice squad on November 30.

Ward was first signed by the organization in 2017, winning Super Bowl LII as a member of the practice squad.

In 40 career games (13 starts), the former college quarterback registered 88 receptions for 768 yards and 10 touchdowns. In 2020, Ward led the team in receptions (53) and receiving touchdowns (6).

Released Cam Sims from the practice squad

The Eagles have released wide receiver Cam Sims from the practice squad.

He was signed on November 30.

Sims played in 55 games (17 starts), all with the Washington Commanders. He recorded 57 receptions for 804 yards and three touchdowns in his six-year career.

This season, the Alabama native and undrafted free agent saw time on the practice squads of the New York Giants and Las Vegas Raiders.

closed the 21-day practice window for Justin Evans

For safety Justin Evans, his 21-day practice window is now over. For the duration of the season, he will be kept on injured reserve.

Evans hasn’t participated in a game since the Los Angeles Rams victory in Week 5.

Evans had 14 tackles, two pass defenses, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery in his four games this season.
