Why the Tennessee Vols are ahead of the competition for a top recruit in the 2026 class
Tennessee Vols: Carson Sneed, a 2026 tight end, is already being recruited by a number of programs.
Although Sneed, a 6-foot-5, 226-pound recruit from Nashville, Tennessee, has not yet received a rating from a major recruiting service, he has already received offers from a number of schools, including Alabama, LSU, Michigan, Ole Miss, Tennessee, and Wisconsin.
Not to mention that Sneed is a highly sought-after recruit even though he won’t be playing college football for another three years.
Tennessee appears to have the early edge for Sneed thanks to a family connection.
Sneed’s older brother, Dayton, is a freshman walk-on wide receiver at UT.
The talented 2026 tight end recently spoke to Rivals.com about his interest in Tennessee.
“I’m building a great relationship there,” said Sneed. “It was a great camp. I got to talk to (tight ends) Coach (Alec) Ableln a ton. I got to talk with Coach (Josh) Heupel a little bit and Coach (Joey) Halzle, their offensive coordinator. I love it there. It’s a great place. Camp went really well. I won a lot of my reps and feel like I got better and got great coaching.
While there is undoubtedly still much to be done in this recruiting process, Tennessee must secure Sneed. The Vols must regularly recruit the best in-state players if they hope to maintain their status as an elite program in the future. Josh Heupel and his team are doing a fantastic job so far with in-state players, but they need to maintain this momentum
