Plans to Restart Entry Into Transfer Portal for Former Florida State
For the second time in fewer than two seasons, the former Seminole intends to transfer.

The transfer portal season is almost here, and many players across the nation have already announced their plans to look into other opportunities. Florida State has been heavily involved in the portal during the past few years, but when the action begins on Monday, December 4, the program is likely only looking for five or six additions this cycle.

With one week remaining until he can make things official, former Florida State and current Kansas State running back Treshaun Ward announced that he plans to transfer for the second time in less than a year. During his one season with the Wildcats, he finished with a career-high 124 carries for 643 yards and five touchdowns on the ground while catching 17 passes for 129 yards and two scores through the air.

Despite his production, Ward still didn’t receive the playing time that he was searching for when he transferred to Kansas State over the offseason. He dealt with injuries earlier in the year and ended up playing second fiddle to DJ Giddens (195 carries, 1,075 yards, 9 TDs). Ward recorded a season-high 118 yards on 15 carries in a win over Texas Tech in October.

The Florida native spent the first four years of his collegiate career at Florida State prior to transferring last January. His decision came despite Ward leading the Seminoles in rushing in the win over Oklahoma in the Cheez-It Bowl with 10 carries for 81 yards and two rushing touchdowns.

After entering the program as a walk-on, Ward played in 26 games over four seasons with the Seminoles, including six starts. In addition to 28 receptions for 210 yards and another touchdown, he finished with 188 rushes for 1,241 yards and 12 touchdowns on the ground.

He only has one season left to be eligible, so it’s likely that he’ll be searching for a place to settle where he can get a lot of playing time.

In 2024, Florida State is expected to add four-star Kam Davis and four-star Micahi Danzy, while also returning redshirt seniors Lawrance Toafili, Caziah Holmes, CJ Campbell, Rodney Hill, and true freshman Samuel Singleton, even if Trey Benson decides to enter the NFL.
