A resident of the home was detained and accused of killing a missing person.
According to a Los Angeles Police Department announcement on Wednesday, the remains of a Guatemalan national who had been missing since June had been discovered buried in a San Fernando Valley home’s backyard.
Carlos DeLeon, 35, had not been in contact with his family since the middle of June. The LAPD was called into the DeLeon hunt earlier this month, and on Tuesday they proceeded to retrieve the body from a North Hills, California, home.
Russell Robinson, 48, a resident of that house, is charged by the police with being the cause of DeLeon’s death.
A structure at the back of the property was removed along with a concrete foundation, LAPD said, under which DeLeon’s remains were found.
“This is a very large property. It’s roughly an acre. To the rear of the area near the swimming pool, there were some areas that had recent alterations and that led us to believe that area may have been involved,” LAPD Deputy Chief Alan Hamilton said, according to KCBS-TV.
