Every level of football has injuries, and Tennessee’s list of injuries is becoming longer before their matchup with No. 1 Georgia at Neyland Stadium on Saturday (3:30 p.m., CBS). The timing of the Vols’ loss to the Bulldogs, the two-time defending national champions, couldn’t be worse. In addition to a number of other absences, the 18th-ranked Vols lost a couple of games in the first half of their game against Missouri last week and were without a starter on defense. The Bulldogs have been playing well recently after several key players returned from injury.
Tennessee won’t officially reveal its list of unavailable players against Georgia until pregame, but GoVols247 will prepare you with its (unofficial) injury report the day before the game.
Tennessee closing practices during the season and head coach Josh Heupel generally declining to get into many specifics regarding injuries or potential absences combine to make tracking who might play and who might not play a little more complicated. So this exercise won’t be perfect, but we’ll do our best to keep tabs on players whose statuses are worth monitoring – of course, there’s always the chance something could pop up on game day, as has happened already this season. Again, official word from Tennessee will come early Saturday afternoon ahead of kickoff, and pregame warmups also could reveal who is and isn’t available.
