Kirk Cousins  undergoes successful surgery to repair torn Achilles tendon

Cousins expressed gratitude for the support on Instagram.

Minnesota Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins under
went surgery on Wednesday to repair his torn right Achilles tendon. Cousins took to social media to announce that the procedure was a success and requested continued prayers as he begins

his recovery. The Vikings also confirmed the surgery and stated that they will provide updates on Cousins’ recovery process as appropriate.

Cousins sustained the injury during the Vikings’ 24-10 victory over the Green Bay Packers on Sunday, which resulted in him being placed on injured reserve on Tuesday.

Cousins had been having his greatest season in the NFL before to his injury, according to coach Kevin O’Connell. Cousins was tied for the league lead in touchdown passes, second in passing yards, and ranked 10th in QBR through Week 8.

Despite the fact that Cousins’ contract is slated to expire in March, O’Connell has stated a strong desire to re-sign him for the 2024 season. “I know he’s going to be a free agent after this season,” O’Connell explained, “but Kirk knows how I feel about him, and that will hopefully work itself out.”

Jaren Hall will start at quarterback.
The Vikings have started rookie Jaren Hall in place of Cousins for their next game against the Atlanta Falcons. Furthermore, the team signed veteran Joshua Dobbs from the Arizona Cardinals and will have him ready to replace Hall if necessary.

Cousins’ injury is a major setback for the Vikings, who are now 4-5 and fighting for a postseason spot. Cousins, on the other hand, is positive about his rehabilitation and grateful for the help he has gotten. “I’m excited to attack this rehab process and get back to playing football as soon as possible,” Cousins said in a statement.

During this tough time, the Vikings organization has also showed their support for Cousins. “Kirk is a valuable member of our team, and we will do everything we can to support him throughout his recovery,” a spokeswoman for the team stated.

Cousins’ recuperation will surely be difficult, but he is determined to return to the field stronger than ever. “I know it won’t be easy, but I’m up for the challenge,” Cousins was quoted as saying. “I appreciate all of the support and prayers as I begin this journey.”
