Which Ohio State football players who missed time due to injury have returned to drills?

CLEVELAND, Ohio — The starting safety Lathan Ransom’s injury will not be updated until Saturday’s availability report, according to Ohio State football coach Ryan Day on Wednesday.

Ransom hurt his lower leg last Saturday versus Wisconsin, and it is anticipated that he will miss time. He was not one of the athletes observed leaving the Woody Hayes Athletic Center after practice.

On the other hand, wide receiver Emeka Egbuka paced the indoor practice field at a jog in the direction of the locker room. As of now, that is the greatest sign that the starting slot receiver, who has missed the last three games, will be fit to play against Rutgers on Saturday.

What effect does Ohio State’s injury to Lathan Ransom have on its safeties?

Both backup quarterback Devin Brown’s and starting quarterback Kyle McCord’s ankles were wrapped up. Nonetheless, it seemed that the latter had somehow made a comeback to practice. After sustaining that injury against Penn State the week before, he did not go to Wisconsin.

But with three games left before Michigan, Ransom’s injury status is the most important one that doesn’t currently have a timetable.

Ransom appeared to suffer a non-contact injury in the fourth quarter of last Saturday’s win at Wisconsin. He hopped to the sideline, then was transported to the locker room, first by cart and then by wheelchair.

Later in the quarter, though, he strolled back to the bench and seemed to be testing the injury. Ohio State increased their lead to 14 points while he was away.

With 34 tackles, an interception, two pass breakups, and a forced fumble, Ransom is fourth on the team in tackle total.

OSU might switch Sonny Styles from nickel to bandit and play Jordan Hancock at nickel more often while he’s not around. Players like Malik Hartford at bandit and Ja’Had Carter, who is presently recovering from his own injury, might also be useful.
