Lions’ top wide receiver is expected to play again against the Buccaneers.
Dan Campell, the head coach of the Detriot Lions, is hopeful that his top receiver will play against Tampa Bay in week six.
Amon-Ra St. Brown, a wide receiver, suffered an abdomen injury against Green Bay and was unable to play for the Lions against the Panthers in Week 5.
This was anticipated because, having missed practice the whole week, he was labeled as doubtful on the Lions injury report. But the fear of reinjury was probably the cause of this.
On his weekly radio show Lions Head Coach Dan Campell said that the team had a hard time benching him last week.
It’s not easy to put Saint down, as you can imagine,” said Campbell. “That’s not something that he really wants to hear but it was the right thing to do.”
St. Brown is the number-one option in this offense with 26 catches, 331 yards, and two touchdowns in four games.
Other pass catchers stepped up in their win over the Panthers like rookie tight end Sam Laporta and Josh Reynolds each grabbing at least one touchdown, but getting back him will be crucial.
Campell went on to say that the team was optimistic about his chances to play against the Buccaneers.
“I feel pretty good about the possibility of him playing this week,” said Campell, “I think it’s certainly more than questionable, I think it’s closer to probable at this point.”
Impact rookies Brian Branch and Jahmyr Gibbs also missed the game against the Panthers with injuries. Both of their statuses are up in the air against Tampa Bay.
