A horrifying box containing death threats was addressed to the CEO of an NRL team.
Brian Fletcher, the CEO of Penrith Panthers, received a sickening death threat in the mail that contained razor blades, condoms, and white powder.
Before taking up his prominent position at premiers Penrith on Monday, Fletcher spent the previous week hiding out at home for protection.
He notified Panthers chairman Peter Graham and the NRL right away.
The man who oversaw Penrith’s consecutive premiership victories, Fletcher, called the strange event “disturbing, scary, and confronting.”
I came to work on Friday morning the week before last and when I got there the mail was delivered. It gets put on each manager’s desk because this (Panthers) is such a big place,” Fletcher said to The Daily Telegraph.
“I found a letter and some other mail addressed to ‘Brian Fletcher, CEO of the Panthers’ when I arrived at my workplace. Naturally, I opened it, and all this strange stuff was inside.
The words “ha ha” were written on both sides of some razor blades. I didn’t open the plastic bag containing the white powder.
“The parcel also contained what appeared to be used condoms.
The razor blades were the item that truly worried me.
“When I told my chief financial officer and PA, they immediately advised that I call the police, which is exactly what I did.
“The evidence and the envelope were taken away, and I was interviewed by the police who also came out.”
“I told my chairman and the NRL, and they were very helpful.”
Fletcher opted to stay away from the club while police investigated the matter in order to ensure everyone’s safety.
The envelope also contained a letter with a threatening message to Fletcher.
NSW Police eventually tracked down the sender.

Following their first-round match, the Panthers were the talk of the town when Jaeman Salmon and Jarome Luai got into a furious altercation.
Following the Panthers’ 13–12 first-round loss to the Brisbane Broncos, the two were seen arguing on the field.
Prior to their round two matchup with the Rabbitohs, the Panthers’ week had been dominated by drama; nevertheless, the two once and for all put an end to the drama.
Following a playful social media post earlier in the week, the two had an interview with Andrew Johns on Channel 9’s broadcast following their Thursday night 16-10 victory over Souths.
After the game, Johns met Salmon while conducting interviews in the sheds and inquired, “Where’s Jarome Luai?”
“I think he’s in here. Should we grab him?” Salmon shot back.
A shirtless Luai approached the camera after entering a different area of the changing facilities, lining up on Salmon and grinning broadly before dousing him in water.
Brian To’o was likewise chanting “Fight, fight, fight” while standing off to the side.
However, it was all in good humor as they hugged each other.
“Will we make up and kiss each other?” Johns quipped. “Are all of you guys sweet now?”
Luai retorted, “That’s my dog,” to which Salmon replied, “He’s my brother.”
“He just gave me a spray, and I deserved it,” Salmon responded to Johns’ question about what Luai had said.
“I said sorry after the game,” Luai continued.
Salmon stated, “After the game, he actually apologized.” “It just started, and I was trying to defend myself a little.”
