Harrison Smith Injury: Vikings Safety Harrison Smith’s Knee and Return

Smith will be active in Week 13
Smith will be ready against the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday, December 6.

Smith’s Current Practice Status
Thursday, December 3rd
Smith was a limited participant in today’s practice, according to the Vikings.

Smith is critical to the Vikings’ defense.
Smith, a first-round choice in 2012, has consistently improved his play to become one of the NFL’s top safeties.

Last season, Pro Football Focus ranked him as the second-best safety and the 49th-best player overall, noting his ability against the run as a major reason for his success.

Smith hasn’t been very productive in pass coverage this season, with only two passes defensed and one interception, but his steadying presence provides security for a Vikings secondary that features Newman and Xavier Rhodes as starters.

Smith was limited in practice all week, according to ESPN’s Ben Goessling.

Smith’s return boosts the Vikings’ chances of making the playoffs.
The Vikings are presently fighting for a spot in the playoffs. Following a 7-2 start, they have lost two of their last three games and are one game behind the Green Bay Packers atop the NFC North.

Minnesota needs Smith to be healthy in order for its defense to be at full strength as the club prepares for a strong finish to its playoff push.
