Injury update for the Washington Commanders: TE Armani Rogers tore his Achilles and will be out indefinitely.

NFL: JUN 01 Washington Commanders OTA Offseason Workouts

The Washington Commanders began their first on-field OTA workouts yesterday and have already lost a player for the season. Armani Rogers suffered a non-contact Achilles injury during running yesterday, according to head coach Ron Rivera. He stated that the second-year tight end would be evaluated, but no date for his return was provided.

According to reports, Rogers tore his Achilles and will be out indefinitely. His season is ended, but he will have surgery next week.

Rogers was in his second NFL season after joining as an undrafted free agent with Washington. He was a quarterback at UNLV before switching to tight end with the Commanders. The untested rookie quickly ascended the depth chart during the offseason.

Rogers benefited from being part of a TEs group that was dealing with many ailments, as well as a coaching staff that was easing TE1 Logan Thomas back into the lineup after tearing his ACL the previous season. Rogers appeared in 11 games as a rookie, starting three of them. He had five receptions for 64 yards and two carries for 26 yards.

Washington is down to four tight ends on the roster with Rogers gone for the season. They did not sign any in free agency and did not pick any. Logan Thomas, John Bates, Cole Turner, and Curtis Hodges are the Commanders’ new tight ends. Turner was drafted in the fifth round last year, while Hodges is another UDFA in his second season with the organization. Expect them to sign another tight end before the start of training camp in July.

Green Bay is down two points at their own 39-yard line with zero seconds remaining in the game against the Detroit Lions. This game is almost finished. Detroit is on the verge of completing a season sweep of their divisional foe for the first time in almost a decade. If ten years
