The top transactions to watch during this year’s AFL trade period, which runs from October 9 to October 18.

DRAFT PICK NO. 1

West Coast is willing to give up the top draft pick for the right price. Whichever club wins the top pick will almost surely sign Victorian star Harley Reid.

North Melbourne, Hawthorn, Melbourne, and GWS are all thought to be contenders.

GRUNDY, BRODIE

After Melbourne’s experiment with Grundy as a ruck mate for Max Gawn failed, the two-time All-Australian is set to transfer to a third club in as many years, most likely Sydney.

ADAMS, TAYLOR

In a shocking move, the Swans have expressed interest in recruiting the Collingwood midfielder to the Harbour City to bolster their on-ball division. Adams, a fan favorite at the Magpies, missed out on the premiership this year due to a hamstring injury.

RATUGOLEA, ESAVA

Port Adelaide is once again interested in luring the versatile giant across the border, but Geelong is expected to play hardball. The Power are also interested in Essendon’s Brandon Zerk-Thatcher as a defensive reinforcement.

FISHER, ZAC

The skilled playmaker fell out of favor at Carlton in the second half of 2023 and is eager to pursue more opportunities under Alastair Clarkson at North Melbourne.

SHIELD, DYLAN

The 30-year-old started the first nine games of 2023 for Essendon but swiftly dropped down the pecking order and appears destined to find a new home. St Kilda has been connected with Shiel, who could send Jade Gresham in the opposite direction to the Bombers.
