Antonio confesses that ‘nothing has been ruled out’ as transfer rumors swirl.
Michail Antonio, the West Ham striker, has revealed that his time in East London may be coming to an end in the last days of the January transfer window.
According to rumors, the Jamaica international, 32, will be permitted to depart the Hammers following the arrival of Aston Villa’s Danny Ings.
Antonio is the Irons’ all-time Premier League top scorer, with 58 Premier League goals to his name.
“Nothing has been ruled out,” he said on The Footballer’s Football Podcast. There are discussions, so whatever happens happens.
“I’ve been here for eight and a half years now, becoming the club’s top goalscorer, and I’ve loved every minute of it.”
“Every single moment is close to my heart.” I enjoy the fans and have enjoyed my time at West Ham.
“It’s just another one of those things.” I’m not saying goodbye; rather, if it occurs, it happens, and if it doesn’t, it doesn’t.”
Antonio has been linked with a move to Wolves under Julen Lopetegui as he seeks regular first-team action in England.
He has only played 90 minutes twice this season, despite appearing in all but two of the Hammers’ league games.
The former Sheffield Wednesday and Nottingham Forest striker has not scored in the Premier League since David Moyes’ side defeated Fulham 3-1 in October.
“I won’t be upset about staying, and I’ll definitely be upset if I leave,” Antonio continued, “because obviously I’ve enjoyed my time here, but football is football.”
“I still have a year and a half here.” I can’t declare I’ll go because I still have a year and a half at the club.
“Players move and eight-and-a-half years at one club, I would never have thought of it because before I came to West Ham the most I stayed at a club was two years.”
