Sunia Turuva and Jahream Bula, two impressive rookies, lead a promising Fiji group picked for the 2018 Pacific
Championships.
Both finalists for the 2023 Dally M Rookie of the Year award, which was subsequently won by the premiership-winning Turuva, the brilliant young combo are among several NRL players nominated to coach Wise Kativerata’s team.
Storm forward Tui Kamikamica will skipper the side, which includes Parramatta duo Maika Sivo and Waqa Blake, as well as veteran outside backs Mikaele Ravalawa and Taane Milne.
Fiji’s men’s team will begin their Pacific Championships campaign on October 22 in Port Moresby against the Cook Islands before facing hosts Papua New Guinea the following week on October 29.
The women’s team will play their only match against Samoa on October 15, with Cassie Staples, Sereana Naitokatoka, and Talei Holmes all expected to play.

Cronulla’s starting halfback In lieu of Nathan Cleary and Josh Addo-Carr, Nicho Hynes and Panthers fullback have been selected to the Gallagher Kangaroos roster for the 2019 Pacific Championships.
Cleary has withdrew due to a knee injury sustained in Penrith’s premiership triumph over Brisbane, while Addo-Carr has been handed a breach notice following an NRL Integrity Unit investigation into an alleged incident on September 30 at the NSW Annual Aboriginal Rugby League Knockout Competition.
Hynes was a member of Australia’s Prime Minister’s XIII team that defeated Papua New Guinea 30-18 in Port Moresby last month.
In the 21-man roster, Hynes and Edwards join Broncos trio Selwyn Cobbo, Thomas Flegler, and Koton Staggs as potential debutants, with the Brisbane trio joining teammates Payne Haas and Patrick Carrigan.
The second rookie is Dolphins fullback Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow, who played center for Queensland in their Origin series victory earlier this year.
