When Pitt visits, Virginia Tech wants stability.

Pitt takes on Virginia Tech in an Atlantic Coast Conference game on Saturday in Blacksburg, Virginia, bringing together two teams in need of a victory. Virginia Tech (1-3), which has dropped three straight games, will be playing their first ACC game this weekend. The previous two came during away games against Marshall and Rutgers. According to Virginia Tech coach Brent Pry, “We’re not consistent enough to be a good team.” “We’re lacking in various ways at various points in time.”

For the first time since 2017, Pitt, which fell 41-24 to North Carolina last Saturday in their ACC debut, is 1-3 after four games. Pat Narduzzi, the Panthers’ coach, says there’s no need to panic because the team has only just begun conference play. There will be one loss for each of the two teams in the (ACC) championship game at the end of the season, according to Narduzzi. “This conference is too evenly matched, and I believe there will be two teams with just one loss. All of our work is still ahead of us.

“We’ll go to Virginia Tech and finish it when we get back,” Pitt’s offensive line might be changing. Due to an unknown first-half injury, quarterback Phil Jurkovec was forced to leave Saturday’s loss against UNC. In his place, Christian Veilleux threw two interceptions. Whoever is out there doesn’t matter, added Narduzzi. “With a shoddy offensive line, we still had a chance to win.”

In the matchup with the Tar Heels, the Panthers’ special teams play was evident. Pitt conceded a punt return for a touchdown, but it also gained points from Kenny Johnson’s 100-yard kickoff return and Rasheem Biles’ second blocked punt in as many games. Pitt is expected to be a physically taxing opponent, thus Virginia Tech’s Hokies may benefit from moving the ball on the ground after accumulating 184 running yards against Marshall.

Although the Panthers have won the last three encounters, Pitt and Virginia Tech have split 22 games overall. In Blacksburg, the Hokies have prevailed in seven of ten games.
