The recent injury to Callum Doyle has Enzo Maresca worried about the ‘huge loss’ the defender would cause Leicester City.
The Manchester City loanee, who was pictured leaving the King Power Stadium with a leg brace and crutches, will have a scan on Monday to ascertain the extent of a knee injury.
In Leicester City’s victory over Bristol City, Callum Doyle participated in the first half but did not return for the second.
After the defender departed the King Power Stadium on crutches, Leicester City boss Enzo Maresca expressed hope that the “big loss” of an injury to Callum Doyle would not occur.
Before being replaced by James Justin at halftime of City’s 1-0 victory over Bristol City on Saturday, Doyle had played every single minute of the team’s season. Then, following the game, he was observed getting up from the ground while using crutches and his left leg was in a brace.
Maresca stated that the Manchester City loanee had injured his knee and will have a scan to ascertain the severity of the ailment on Monday. Doyle going in for a block tackle may have been the cause of the issue early in the first half.

If the youth is unable to fill in for Doyle, Justin is the obvious choice having filled in for him and making his first home appearance in more than ten months in the process. Maresca asserted that because he is not left-footed, he is not a clear replacement for Doyle.
“When you have a left-footed player there, it’s completely different,” the manager continued. JJ has a right foot. He performed a great job. If Callum is out, we regrettably lack a central defender with a left foot. But we’ll check it out nevertheless.
If Victor Kristiansen had remained with the team, Maresca would have had a natural left-footed player in reserve. The management considered him as Doyle’s possible backup, but the Dane wanted to play left-back exclusively, thus in the final week of the transfer window, he agreed to a loan deal with Bologna in Serie A.

As they prepare to make a push for promotion, Leicester City may have strengthened well this summer, but their most significant investment was upgrading the academy’s infrastructure.
The Foxes’ magnificent £100 million training facility, which includes 21 training facilities, 14 full-size training pitches, and a 499-seater pitch for minor team games, was unveiled in 2020.

Given his high ceiling and Leicester’s desire to extend his contract, which is now set to expire in 2024, he is a player they simply cannot afford to lose.
What Leicester personnel could Richards replace?
In place of the ineffective Jamie Vardy and Kelechi Iheanacho, Leicester’s attacking output has primarily come from wide areas this season, with wingers McAteer and Stephy Mavididi scoring five goals between them.
Vardy scored his first Championship goal of the season in the opening 21 seconds of the match against Southampton, but given that the Englishman’s production has been progressively declining in recent years, Maresca may soon need to find a replacement.
After reaching double digits for goals in eight of the previous nine seasons and winning the Golden Boot in the 2019–20 campaign, the 36-year-old only managed three goals in the top tier last term, which is a gauge for how swiftly he’s fallen from the height of his powers.
Vardy is towards the end of his career, therefore someone else needs to fill in for him and, based on Iheanacho’s performances this year, he isn’t going to score the goals Leicester need.
Instead, Maresca may go to his academy and find the talented and exciting Richards, giving his team the much-needed baptism of fire in the manner of McAteer.
