Aston Villa modifies Villa Park’s $100 million North Stand makeover.
Aston Villa has modified their ambitious £100 million project’s plans to renovate the North Stand and the area around Witton Lane.

The capacity of Aston Villa’s North Stand will increase from 42,657 to 50,065 by the summer of 2026 thanks to revisions to their plans. Officials from Villa want to expand food and drink options, build a new and significantly improved club shop and ticket office inside the new North Stand on the corner of Witton Lane, and make additional changes to Villa’s original design statement. This information was provided in an update to Birmingham City Council planners.

The Premier League team first proposed plans to construct a brand-new, multipurpose facility right behind the North Stand in 2021. The ‘Villa Live’ structure, which received planning approval in 2022, was intended to feature a new retail section, including the club shop, food and drink courts, a space to honor the club’s history, and an outdoor area with new seats and a bar area.

However, following Christian Purslow’s resignation as CEO at the conclusion of the previous campaign, Villa’s newly appointed president of business operations, Chris Heck, declared that the ‘Villa Live’ concept would be shelved in favor of renovations to the Academy building, formerly known as Stumps, on Witton Lane.

The structure, which was originally intended to be demolished, will be transformed into The Warehouse, a brand-new fan area. A multipurpose event floor, a bar, a huge screen, and a food courtyard will all be included. Additionally, a microbrewery will be set up in this two-story building, which will also host community activities like job fairs and be accessible to students. Football tournaments can be held indoors in this structure.

next the significant Foo Fighters concert the next summer (June 27, 2024), Villa will begin dismantling work on the North Stand. Bulldozing will also be used to destroy the present Villa store and ticket office, as well as the security gatehouse and outside broadcasting area where the TV vehicles are kept. Prior to opening The Warehouse, Villa also intends to demolish two structural bays of the existing Academy building.
