Unai Emery, the manager of Aston Villa, is considering hiring a defender for £51.6 million.

The Real Sociedad defender Robin Le Normand is allegedly a target for Aston Villa.

The 26-year-old defender is wanted by Aston Villa manager Unai Emery, who will have to pay roughly €60 million (£51.6m) for his services, according to a report through

In the Spanish league, Robin Le Normand has made a name for himself as a consistent player. The West Midlands club may find him to be a worthwhile addition.

Despite Pau Torres’ arrival, Aston Villa has appeared defensively weak this year.

Emery wants to strengthen the areas where his team is lacking, but it is unclear whether Real Sociedad will consent to Le Normand leaving in the middle of the campaign. Selling a player of his caliber in January would make the team less strong, thus the Spanish team will attempt to keep him until the summer transfer window.

That said, the player has a release clause of €60 million in his contract and Real Sociedad will be powerless to stop him from leaving if Aston Villa decide to pay up.

The prospect of signing with a Premier League team might be alluring, and the 26-year-old might be drawn to the idea of playing in English football.

Aston Villa has assembled a formidable team and has secured European play for the current campaign. In the upcoming seasons, Emery intends to compete for championships, and someone like Le Normand could be thrilled to be a part of the endeavor.

The ‘ridiculous’ Aston Villa move that cost Newcastle United £100,000 after Manchester United’s decision Stephen Ireland joined Newcastle United on loan from Aston Villa in January 2011.

Ireland was rehabilitating from a knee injury when he signed for Newcastle on a loan contract for £50,000 per game. A ‘ridiculous’ transfer, according to the athlete.
The former Manchester City man did not start a single game for The Magpies and was only used as a substitute twice. The midfielder’s loan stay was arguably best summed up by a trip to the city’s Tup Tup Palace nightclub with teammate Leon Best the night before Newcastle’s 4-0 defeat at Stoke City.

Ireland had to wait until April to make his debut in a 0-0 draw against Manchester United, as then-manager Alan Pardew decided to put him in as a substitute before doing the same the next match against Blackpool. But that would be the extent of his contributions at Newcastle, as an ankle injury ended his season prematurely.
However, due to the terms of his loan from Aston Villa, the player believes he didn’t have much of a chance to make an effect at Newcastle. With Ireland costing The Magpies £50,000 each game, manager Alan Pardew was only able to use him four times.

“Alan explained that he would have to be smart with how he used me because he was only allowed four appearances,” Ireland stated to Ladbrokes Fanzone. “It was completely ridiculous.” ‘What am I doing here?’ I thought. It was the most ludicrous offer I’d ever heard.

“They gave me my debut against Manchester United at home with about 20 minutes to go.” The game ended in a 0-0 tie.

“I should have scored to win it for us. Don’t get me wrong, the experience was incredible, the fans were amazing, but all I was thinking was, ‘That’s £50,000 there and I’ve got three appearances left.’ “I played in the next game, away at Blackpool, and I came on again for something like 20 minutes. That was two appearances, about 40 minutes, costing Newcastle £100,000. What was happening? How is that right?”
