Caglar Soyuncu turned down Liverpool in order to join Atletico Madrid.

Caglar Soyuncu, a former Leicester City defender, has joined Atletico Madrid after turning down bids from Liverpool and Newcastle United earlier this summer.

Soyuncu’s contract with Leicester had expired, making him a highly sought-after free agent. Liverpool and Newcastle have both expressed an interest in signing him and have held talks with the Turkish defender.

For Liverpool, the pursuit of a centre-back was seen as a way to bolster squad depth, especially after the departures of key players during the summer transfer window. The addition of a quality defender could have provided valuable cover and competition in the heart of the defence.

Caglar Soyuncu rejected Liverpool to join Atletico Madrid.

However, according to Mundo Deportivo through ECHO, Soyuncu ultimately chose Atletico Madrid over Liverpool and Newcastle United. The Spanish titans secured his services, putting an end to speculation about his next destination.

While Liverpool’s interest in Soyuncu demonstrated their desire to bolster the squad, his decision to join Atletico Madrid means he will not be wearing the legendary Liverpool jersey this season.

It’s a reminder to Liverpool fans that the transfer market can be unpredictable, with players picking destinations that best match their ambitions and career aims.

While Soyuncu will not be playing at Anfield, Liverpool’s summer transfer activity has already brought in some potential players. The additions of Alexis MacAllister, Dominik Szoboszlai, Wataru Endo, and Ryan Gravenberch to the midfield have provided depth and quality, demonstrating the club’s dedication to continued progress.
Although Soyuncu’s choice aroused eyebrows, Liverpool fans should take comfort in the fact that the club’s recruitment strategy remains focused on getting players who fit the team’s style and ambitions.

Today, a European team wants to sign a Leicester player; the 26-year-old wants to leave the club.

With the Turkish transfer market still open, Fenerbahce are set to sign one Leicester player before the deadline – and he appears to be interested in the move as well.
The Foxes have made a good start in the Championship, currently sitting in third position, one point behind leaders Preston North End.

This despite the fact that new manager Enzo Maresca had to deal with the summer departures of James Maddison, Harvey Barnes, and Youri Tielemans.

While there is still a long way to go until the campaign ends in 2023/24, the fact that the players on the ground are responding to Maresca’s methods is heartening.

One who has started the majority of the Foxes’ games this season may not be doing so for much longer.

According to Gazete Vatan, Wilfred Ndidi is open to Fenerbahce’s approach and is looking to leave, albeit at this late stage in the window, it’s tough to anticipate whether there will be enough time to complete a trade.

The report also claims that Leicester are trying to make a profit from any sale because his contract with the club expires in a year and this is likely to be their last chance to benefit from any transfer.

Though the timing makes Maresca’s task more difficult, if the money is spent in the squad in January, Ndidi’s move could benefit everyone in the end.
