€8m Barcelona has made a claim about Aston Villa’s summer transfer.
The defender has signed on loan with the option to buy on deadline day, according to the most recent Aston Villa news.
Barcelona were ready to sell Aston Villa deadline day signing Clement Lenglet this summer, only for the player to reject the move, according to reports.
The centre-back joined Villa on a season long loan from the Spanish giants in the final 24 hours of the window. Unai Emery moved to add more strength to his defensive ranks following a long-term injury to club captain Tyrone Mings.
Lenglet has Premier League experience, having spent last season on loan with Tottenham from Barcelona. The 28-year-old appeared in 35 games in all competitions, with 26 of those games coming in the league.
He could make his Villa debut against Crystal Palace at Villa Park on Saturday (3 p.m.). But things could have gone differently for the player if he had taken the first available move.

According to Marca, Saudi Arabian club Al Nassr offered Barcelona a fee of €8 million (£6.9 million) and full payment of the player’s wages. Barcelona was thought to be willing to accept the offer, but Lenglet was hesitant since he was awaiting an offer from a European team.
According to reports, Barcelona did not want to put pressure on the defender to complete the transfer because of his behavior with the club. Villa are said to have brushed off interest from Sevilla and Real Betis to sign Lenglet on loan with a purchase option on the final day of the transfer window.
After failing to recruit Lenglet, Al Nassr turned to the Premier League for a replacement. After being turned down by the new Villa manager, the club sealed a deal for Manchester City defender Aymeric Laporte.
