Wolves believe they have made a £5 million acquisition that might be fantastic.

Wolves signed six new players over the summer, including Enzo Gonzalez, who the club is thought to be very pleased about.

The team signed the Paraguayan teenager the day before the transfer deadline.

He arrived at the same time as Santiago Bueno, who came from Girona.

Gonzalez joined from Libertad, the team from which Brighton signed Julio Enciso.

Gonzalez will be compared to Enciso, who has made an impression in his short time in English football.

Wolves, on the other hand, are overjoyed with their £5 million signing…

Wolves very excited about Enso Gonzalez

According to The Athletic this morning, Wolves scouts actually first watched Gonzalez last season.

And the determination was that he was a real talent.

The club decided to make their move towards the end of the summer window, and the deal just worked for Wolves.

This was a young player coming in for a relatively low fee and low wages.

Wolves are said to believe it is a low-risk and potentially huge-reward deal.

The last time Wolves signed a player from South America was in January, when Joao Gomes joined from Flamengo.

The club had seen him develop nicely in his first eight months at the club, and have been looking to bring more players of his profile to the club.

Enso Gonzalez requires some rest.
Gonzalez appears to have the potential to be a future superstar.

But, for the time being, he’ll need lots of time to settle in.

He is only 18 years old and has come from another continent.

He doesn’t speak English yet, so it’s all about Gonzalez settling in at Wolves in these first three months.

Wolves anticipate him competing for first-team minutes.

However, for Gonzalez, English football and living in England may be a culture shock at first.

Patience will be required with him, but he will surely have tremendous fan support.

Wolves are unlikely to make an offer for free agent Jesse Lingard at this time.

The 30-year-old has been linked with a move to Wolves to bolster Gary O’Neil’s squad ahead of the January transfer window. Lingard was a free agent when the transfer market closed on Friday, having been released by Nottingham Forest at the end of last season.

However, BirminghamLive understands that a Wolves move for the England international is unlikely. West Ham have also been linked with a player who came up through Manchester United’s junior system and went on to make 149 Premier League appearances for them, scoring 20 goals.

He spent the second half of the 2021/22 season on loan at West Ham, netting nine goals in 16 league appearances before joining Forest on a free transfer last summer. However, he only appeared in 17 games for Steve Cooper’s side before being released at the end of the season.

Wolves rebuilt their squad in the summer, collecting almost £140 million from player sales while spending roughly £26 million on transfer fees to bring in Tom King, Matt Doherty, Tommy Doyle, Santiago Bueno, Enso Gonzalez, and Jean-Ricner Bellegarde. This does not include the sum for Doyle, who is on loan from Manchester City for the season with a view to a £4.3m move.

The club missed out on a few of targets before the deadline, and goalscoring could be the main issue. Wolves were the Premier League’s lowest scorers last season, with 31 goals, and have scored four goals in four games this season under new manager O’Neil.

Because of the international break, Wolves do not have a game this weekend. They will play at home against Liverpool on Saturday, September 16.
