Logan Pye, a former Sunderland defender, has joined Burnley.
Logan Pye, a former Sunderland defender, has joined Premier League team Burnley, it was announced today.
Before being acquired by Manchester United in the summer of 2020, the Wearside-born left-back progressed through the ranks at the Academy of Light.
The 19-year-old has signed a two-year contract with the Clarets after a fruitful trial, ending his time at Old Trafford. He will now join up with the under-21 team at Turf Moor.
While the Academy of Light maintained its Category One accreditation in the year 2020, Stewart Donald and Charlie Methven accepted the departure of a number of promising young stars.
Pye, Francis Okoronkwo, Bali Mumba, Joe Hugill, Sam Greenwood, and Luca Stephenson all departed. Many fans and analysts felt the club’s academy was moving in the wrong direction, thus the mass exodus didn’t sit well with them.
Under the guidance of Manchester City great Vincent Kompany, Burnley was promoted from the Championship to the Premier League last year.
