Millwall 49th in list of average tickets sold to capacity

MILLWALL were in 49th place in a list detailing which English football grounds were filled closest to capacity last season.

Chelsea topped the list, with Stamford Bridge at an average capacity of 99.8 percent on their way to winning the title.

Swansea, Arsenal, Manchester United and West Ham completed the top five, according to figures compiled by Sky Sports.

The study analysed the percentage of tickets sold against capacity across the 2014/115 season and included season ticket sales whether seats were actually occupied or not during home games.

Carlisle United were bottom of the pile of 92 league clubs with an average of just 4,376 tickets sold (24.04 percent) for home games at 18,202-capacity Brunton Park.

Norwich City, on their way to winning promotion from the Championship last season, and League One champions Bristol City were the only non-Premier League clubs in the top 20.

Those two Premier League sides outside the top 20 were Burnley in 25th and Aston Villa in 30th.

The Lions’ Sky Bet League One rivals Sheffield United (43rd) and Bradford City (53rd) recorded the highest total attendances in the division last season with an average of 19,850 paying into Bramall Lane and 13,353 filing through the turnstiles at Valley Parade.
