West Ham United transfer news as PSG forward Hugo Ekitike prefers Brentford move

West Ham target Hugo Ekitike is interested in signing for Brentford, according to Sky Sports News.

The news outlet also reported on their live transfer blog (25 August, 13:15) that his parent club Paris Saint-Germain are keen on the idea of the striker moving to West London as they feel he will develop there and earn a sizeable sell-on fee.

However, Sky also say that Brentford are working on a deal to sign Fiorentina forward Nicolas Gonzalez, while Nottingham Forest ace Brennan Johnson is also a preferred target.

PSG have been trying to offload Ekitike throughout the window to try and meet Financial Fair Play requirements.

As well as West Ham, Everton and Fulham have been named among his suitors, while AC Milan are said to have shown an interest in a loan deal.

It seems almost certain that Hugo Ekitike will be no longer a Paris Saint-Germain player by the end of transfer window.

What is not quite as certain is where the 21-year-old will be plying his trade.

The Premier League seems a relatively decent bet, especially given Everton and West Ham have been among the strongest suitors for his signature this summer.

The addition of Brentford to the list does rather complicate matters, though, and David Moyes and the technical staff at West ham may have an even more difficult task if they want to convince Ekitike to move to the London Stadium.

With Mohammed Kudus almost certain to sign from Ajax, it begs the question of whether West Ham will want to move for another young forward in the form of Ekitike.

But if they do they will have to start making inroads soon to ward off other rivals. It is certainly not an easy deal to get done.
