Everton want to sign Joel Piroe with limited budget, Swansea City open to sale
Everton want to sign Swansea striker Joel Piroe with their “limited budget” this summer with the Championship side open to a sale, according to VI (2 July).
The Toffees have managed just 77 goals in 76 games over the last two Premier League seasons and are desperate to find a reliable goalscorer to avoid another relegation battle in the new season.
And after hitting 20 goals in all competitions during the 2022/23 season, Piroe is set to leave Swansea after telling them he won’t renew his contract which expires in 2024, with Sean Dyche keeping his eye on the 23-year-old Dutch ace.
Everton, which only has a limited transfer budget , could use a scoring striker,” they wrote (2 July).
“Everton is one of the clubs Joel Piroe has on his wish list. In addition, it is expected that Swansea will cooperate, as Piroe’s contract has only one year left.”
A young, up and coming goalscorer who is hungry and ready to step up to the next level? Yes please.
While it may seem like a gamble of a signing, Piroe is unlikely to cost a bomb considering his current contract status at Swansea and a step up to the Premier League is surely something that will appeal to him
He’s at the perfect age to kick on in his development, and considering his lack of experience at the highest level should Calvert-Lewin find himself fit and in form then he’s unlikely to be too annoyed at playing second fiddle for a period of time.
It could be the perfect signing to step up and fill a hole when Calvert-Lewin is unfit or struggling, and the fact he has a good goal record means it’s worth the gamble.
We need a striker, undoubtedly, and this could be a perfect signing to fill that gap and also plan for the future at the same time, so the club should be looking to get it done.
